IWSM 2015: Travel to and from Linz
Arriving by plane:
At the Linz airport, there is a shuttle bus to the center of Linz:
- Timetable Shuttle Bus: Airport - Linz (Neues Fenster)
- Timetable Shuttle Bus: Linz - Airport (Neues Fenster)
Please exit the bus at the main train station "Linz Hbf /
Kärntnerstrasse", where you can go down to the underground
tram station (direction "Universität") and take line 1 or 2 until
the final stop.
If you want to go directly to hotel
Sommerhaus, please get out at the last but one stop
"Schumpeterstrasse" (see map).
There is a direct rail connection from Vienna International Airport to Linz. More information can be found at the webpage of the Austrian Railways:

Arriving by train:
In the main hall of the train station you can go down to the
underground tram station (direction "Universität") and
take line 1 or 2 to the final stop "Universität".
If
you want to go directly to hotel Sommerhaus, please get out at
the last but one stop "Schumpeterstrasse" (see
map).
Arriving by car:
Coming from the motorway A1 take exit Linz; follow motorway
A7 (Mühlkreisautobahn) in direction Freistadt/Praha; take
exit Dornach (2nd exit after crossing the River Danube). Go
straight ahead at the traffic light (Altenbergerstrasse), and
turn left after the final tram stop (on your right side) to
reach the parking lot of the university.
IWSM 2015: Travel within Linz
For traveling with public transportation within Linz you can either use:
- A MIDI ticket which costs EUR 2 and is valid for one trip in one direction, e.g., for going from down town / main train station to the university or vice versa.
- A MAXI ticket which costs EUR 4 and is valid for 24 hours.
- A weekly pass which costs EUR 13,20 and is valid for seven days after validation or the time of purchase.
